Budgeting is as Prosperous as Long-Term Investing

Budgeting can appear daunting at first. You must look at how you have been spending your money and compare that to how much you make. You should write down all of your expenses. If you have the patience, you will track your spending for at least two months to get the most accurate averages.

When you first look at your spending habits in detail it can be scary. Most people have no idea how much those Target runs add up to. Getting better with money and improving your well-being starts with looking at the facts. Without those facts you can’t plan. So, be brave and not only look at the numbers, but add them up too.

Once you have some totals of your spending keep it moving and create a plan. There is no need for breaks. You are ready to do this!

Select a tool, a tracking method, and create categories. The more specific you are with your categories the better. Tools can be the 50–30–20 method or the Zero-Based Budget method. Tracking your expenses can be done on google sheets, word document or phone app. Do your research and pick one that you see yourself sticking with for a few months at least.
