Coaches, just like teachers need to have certain skills to work with youth.

There are many skills that kids could learn when they participate in youth sports. Sure, most will revolve around physical abilities, but other skills are what they develop internally. How they will grow as members of society.

In order to be a successful coach, you should be able to develop both of these areas. Most importantly just like teachers are asked to instill the love of learning in their students, coaches should also do the same for their athletes.

However, that is not always the case.

Some kids come out of youth sports traumatized because of the coaching that they have experienced. Unfortunately, some of these kids never return to play sports again.

So, what are qualities that youth sports coaches should have in order to produce well-rounded athletes?

For this, I turned to my own family. My 13-year-old daughter has been playing sports since she was 5. From swimming, to volleyball and her ultimate love, softball. These are the 4 things that she said have helped her grow in her physical abilities and as a teammate.
