This is funny, but not really.

I have been in homes where I am not even offered a glass of water. I never leave these places feeling as good as the ones where I am offered something. I don't always accept but it is the hospitality that matters.

Of course, if it is a quick dropping off something then I don't expect anything.

If you come to my home by invite expect food and drink. I am not rich, but my grandmother taught me that offering something to our guests is a must.

Sometimes she would only offer a bowl of beans and water, but they were the best beans.

Being a good host should be a social norm especially if we are trying to reduce isolation and build community.
