This One Thing Can Be Good for Your Budget and the Environment
Everyone can do this.
We are in a time where everyone is looking for how to save money and how to make a positive impact on climate change.
Thrift stores are over a century old with their popularity peaking in the 1950s. They are reaching their second peak 70 years later. They can be found in every community making them accessible to all.
Having recently visited a few after many years, I noticed some differences.
- The stores and the clothes have a pleasant smell.
- There are everyday people there.
- They are better organized
- Items are more on-trend and not from 30 years ago
- Prices have gone up
- Private fitting rooms with actual doors
The assumption about the people that shop there has also changed. Before we believed that thrift shopping was for:
- People who can’t afford new clothes
- People who are cheap
- People that don’t care about how they look
My friend who just bought a 3-million-dollar home is a huge thrift store shopper. She is very stylish. Thrift shops are for everyone. You can’t say that about a lot of things.
