You Tired of Hearing about Tired Moms?

Recently I read a good article in the New York Times about women and how they have taken the brundt of the extra work that the pandemic has brought on. I’m sure you have seen those articles.

I decided to read the comments of the article, looking for uplifting remarks that I myself always need to hear. Except this time, I found comments stating that people are tired of reading about how moms are tired and overwhelmed. They want to hear more praise for dads who are also working and caring for children quietly…

Well yeah, this article isn’t about that.

This article is about how I am surviving the pandemic because of my kids. My girls are ages 5, 6 and 13. Without their resilience, humor and creativity, I would still be running on the hamster wheel that was my life.

Prior to the pandemic, I was working from home 90% of the time. So you could argue and say that my life was not very much impacted because I am used to working from home. But that is not the case at all. I was working in a quiet house, uninterrupted, fitting an 8 hour day into a 6 hour day. Now I have to fit an 8 hour day into maybe a 3 hour day if I’m lucky.
